Acclaimed Artist Series: Upcoming event

The Chemeketa Community College Music Department is excited to bring back the Acclaimed Artist Series for the 2023-24 season. The purpose of this series is to bring world-class performers to Salem to share their music with our students and with the greater Salem community.

Our first two seasons included a vocal ensemble from Germany, Calmus; a string quartet from Great Britain, the Escher Quartet; the Boston Brass quintet; the world-renowned vocal ensemble Chanticleer; the amazing throat-singers from Mongolia, Huun-Huur-Tu; the incredible vocalists of Voces8; and the outstanding Ladysmith Black Mambazo from South Africa.

The 2023-24 season will feature the world-famous Vienna Boys Choir, followed by the extraordinary vocal band Roomful of Teeth, the extraordinary Shakesperian ensemble Baltimore Consort, the internationally acclaimed world-music ensemble from the heart of Ukraine, DakhaBrakha, and a return visit by the very entertaining Boston Brass.

Additionally, we have created a second concert series called “Night of a Thousand Lights.” This series will feature small ensembles in an intimate setting, surrounded by more than a thousand lights and candles. For more information on this exciting new series, visit our Night of a Thousand Lights page.
